BACKGROUND
The Emerald Group was founded in January 1989. It is based primarily in the South East of
Ireland where it manages over 350 hectares of Christmas tree plantations. Emerald is the
largest grower of quality trees in the British Isles.
SPECIALIST GROWERS
Emerald specialises in the production and sale of top quality Nordmann Fir and also
produces Noble Fir.
STRONG RELATIONSHIPS
In addition to its own managed production Emerald has strong long term relationships with
a small number of growers in Ireland, UK, Belgium and Denmark who supply up to 20% of
the trees sold annually by the Company.
VOLUME
Emerald aims to sell approx. 250,000 trees annually and plant on average the same
number. Production is likely to remain stable over the next 5 years. The focus is on
improving quality rather than increasing volume.
CUSTOMERS
Emerald sells to over 75% of the top 100 Garden Centres in the UK and has significant
customers also in Ireland, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Many of our customers are
with us for over 15 years, a tribute to our reliable quality and service.
JOINT VENTURES
Emerald has established a number of joint ventures with landowners over the past 5 years
and is interested in further joint investments. We are actively seeking farms of 60 acres
and upwards on which to establish a viable rotation. In addition we can provide
consultancy, specialist equipment and contract labour to maximise existing crops for
established growers.
